Dukkha

In Dukkha, painting is rooted in the tension between suffering and regeneration. Cochineal, ash and corrosive substances become the matter of a purifying process, in which the surface is traversed by opposing forces: erosion and coagulation, dissolution and rebirth. The fields vibrate like wounds that heal, incandescent residues of an inner struggle. This painting does not seek harmony, but enacts a catharsis that takes place within the matter itself, rendering it a living body, vulnerable yet resistant to time. The figures, when they appear, remain ambiguous: metamorphic shadows, suspended between trace and transformation.
